Beloved son of the late Joseph and Frances (nee Monte) Santangelo. Survived by sister Grace LaCombe (Kenny) and predeceased by sister Concetta Santangelo, brother George Santangelo (Anita), brother Frank M. Santangelo (Zelma), and sister Anna Henry (Walter). Uncle of 2 nieces and 7 nephews. Great uncle of 7 nieces and 7 nephews. Great-great uncle of 10 nieces and 8 nephews.

Joe grew up in South Philly and loved his childhood where he was surrounded by his aunts, uncles, and cousins. He spent his afternoons and weekends playing stickball, going to the Italian Market, visiting family, and having Sunday dinners at his grandparents' house.

When Joe was in his early twenties, he helped his parents build their dream home in Hilltop where he continued to live for the next 70 years. Although he never married or had children of his own, he was constantly surrounded by all his nieces and nephews. Joe was a father figure to them, always providing advice, support and love. He enjoyed spending time with his family, welcoming all of his great and great great nieces and nephews to the family. Joe also loved spending time with his retired post office colleagues at a monthly breakfast.

Joe was a phenomenal cook and loved making home-made wine, going to the casino, watching the Phillies, Eagles, boxing and horse racing. He was also very generous to many charities, and specifically loved giving to charities that benefited animals and children. Joe will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

There will be a viewing from 10:30 am until 11:45 am on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Agnes Church, 701 Little Gloucester Rd., Blackwood. Funeral mass at 12:00 noon. Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
