Janet M. Martin (nee Bartosik) of Somerdale, NJ passed away on December 7, 2023. Born and raised in Upper Darby Pennsylvania. Daughter of the late Leon Bartosik and Mary Bartosik (nee Kerak). Survived by her loving husband Richard Martin for 52 years. Devoted mother of Renee C. Chisholm (Frank) of Somerdale, NJ. Cheryl L. Chisholm (Scott) of Magnolia, NJ. and Adrian L. Barron (Mike) of Gloucester Twp. Loving grandmother of Megan Chisholm, Katelyn Chisholm, Michael Barron, Jayden Barron, Jaxon Barron. Dear sister of Donna Tracy (Richard) and Michael Bartosik (Noelle). Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Janet went to parochial school for 12 years, Saint Charles Parish School in Drexel Hill, PA and then Archbishop Prendergast High School in Upper Darby, PA. She went straight to work after high school as an equipment inventory ledger clerk for the Atlantic Richfield/ARCO Oil Company until birth of her first child in 1975. In her youth Janet was a swim team member and long-time accordion player. In the 1970s she was invited to play accordion in the South Jersey String Band. Janet attended Gordon Phillips Beauty School and became a licensed cosmetologist at age 40, in May 1991 setting in motion the eventual career paths for her daughters Renee and Cheryl who also became licensed cosmetologist Janet became the mentor and guiding light to her children and grandchildren. She was always involved in children's activities such as PTA, Girl Scouts, T-ball, etc. Janet also facilitated the formation of her family when she brought her daughters Renee and Cheryl to work at Laurel Lake Estates retirement home where the girls met their future husbands. Always an unpretentious person preferring "down to earth people." Some of Janet's favorite interests were needlepoint and crocheting. She learned to sew from her aunt Margaret Kerak Kateusz who was a seamstress at Kent's Mill.

Above all else, Janet loved her family and will be dearly missed.
