Joseph C. (Joe) Scaven passed away peacefully in his home on November 22, 2023 at the age of 88. Joe was born on March 11, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA and is the beloved husband of the late Josephine Marie (Gelsamina/Jo) Rocco. He is the devoted father of Gregory J. (Greg) Scaven, who is married to Lorraine Gilmore, and Christopher J. (Chris) Scaven, who is married to Ali Tabibzadeh. Joe is the loving grandfather of Victoria L. (Tori) Scaven and Joseph D.A. (Joey) Scaven, as well as the great-grandfather of Gelsamina (Mina) Scaven-Hutchison. He is the dear brother of the late Eleanor, Gerald, Charles, and Gene Scaven, and is survived by many cherished nieces and nephews. He was loved by many others as well who knew him as a gentle man with a big heart, kind spirit, and infectious smile.

Joe is a graduate of Bartram High School in southwest Philadelphia. Following his service in the US Army, he obtained an associate degree from Temple University. His professional career lasted over 30 years, which started as a draftsman with RCA Astro Space in Hightstown, NJ. He remained with Astro as a manager throughout his career, while the company's ownership changed from RCA to General Electric, to Martin Marrietta, and finally to Lockheed-Martin. Joe was active in many sports-related activities with his two sons within their hometown of Cinnaminson, NJ and home county of Burlington. He remained a loyal and passionate Philadelphia sports fan throughout his entire life - and following his retirement, lived in various places outside his beloved city of Philadelphia, including Venice, FL, Mesa, AZ, and Flagstaff, AZ.

There will be a visitation with Joe and his surviving family on Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 10:15am to 11:15am at Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church in Blackwood, NJ. A memorial mass will be held at 11:15am, with inurnment to follow at New St. Mary's Cemetery in Bellmawr, NJ.
