Salvatore L. Cappello on Thursday, November 23 of Blackwood, NJ formerly of Philadelphia, PA. Age 88.
Beloved husband of Filomena "Flip" (nee Falcone) for 64 years. Devoted father of Maria, John (Pamela), Rich (Tricia), and Debra. Pre-deceased by his son Stephen Cappello. Loving grandfather of Chelsea, Samantha, Nicholas, Marissa, Dimitri, and Carlena. Adoring great grandfather of Mia, Dominic, and Aniello.
Salvatore honorably served his country in the US Army. He went on to establish a 40-year-long career at The Philadelphia Inquirer & Daily News working his way up to a Director of Advertising. After the Daily News, he amazingly reinvented himself by starting and running his own newspaper advertising company called SPINN. After his successful run at self-employment, Salvatore kicked back and enjoyed his retirement years on his terms by watching his sports and shows on the TV, making frequent trips to Wawa and Sam's, and spending as much time as humanly possible with family.
Salvatore was an avid golfer, enjoying rounds with life-long friends, family, and local sports celebrities. Bowling and billiards were a constant for him back in the day. He was a devoted fan of the Philly sports teams, experiencing all their successes and failures throughout his entire life. He had a passion for the movies, musicals, and artists of song and dance, and was always willing to share his favs to anyone who would take a listen or watch.
Salvatore played a great Santa for his and other children and absolutely lived for the family birthdays and holiday gatherings. He will always be remembered for his very generous nature, easy manner, a quick laugh, and most of all, his love for his entire family.
