James M. Leason, on May 4, 2021, of Washington Twp.; formerly of Camden. Age 73.
Beloved husband of Karen (nee Incudine). Devoted father of James Leason Jr. (Dawn), Jeffrey Leason (Christine), Donna Marie Egan (Michael), Jessica Anne Leason, and Jenna Leason. Loving grandfather of Kristen, Dominic, and Angela Leason; Matthew, Michael, and Justin Leason; Charlotte and Shane Egan; Eva Lauren Henriquez; and the late Michael James Egan. Dear brother of Mark Leason and the late Robert Leason.
James was the Runnemede Police Chief for 18 years with a total of 32 years on the force. He was a Rotarian, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Past President of the Police Chief's Association, and a recipient of the Paul Harris Award. Jim loved working on cars and collecting antique cars. He enjoyed playing poker and watching Western movies. Most of all he was devoted to his family.
There will be a viewing from 6pm to 8pm Tuesday evening and from 9am to 10am Wednesday morning at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.
Funeral Mass 11am Wednesday at Church of the Holy Family, 226 Hurffville Road, Sewell, NJ 08080.

My wife and I always remember Jimmy’s smile. He was always so upbeat and positive and energetic. He was a thoughtful and kind person under his macho outside appearance.
Manny a snowy morning my wife and I would wake up to find our driveway already cleared by Jimmy. He would never ask or take anything for his kindness. He was a friend and will truly be missed.

I'm terribly saddened by Jim's passing. He was a fine person. He had a wonderful sense of honor and integrity and a good sense of humor. From a business standpoint when he and his staff took on a job you knew that it would be done right. He will be sorely missed by family and friends.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Jim Leason, met him thru my sister Lorraine Hartmann at his auto body shop. What a genuine loving person his was, he would talk about the good times in Runnemede when he was chief and Lorraine was his secretary, always had a good word for everyone. RIP Jim you will be missed.
Jimmy was not only our neighbor and friend, he was like family. He was always there for us whenever we needed his help. He was a good man with a good heart. Our sincere condolences to his entire family. He will always be in our prayers.

Jimmy, was my friend and “ Big Brother since I was 7 years old , living on Cherry St. in South Camden Nj ! He was always the Protector of the neighborhood! His love for his mom , Rita stayed with him all his life! His passion for his brother Bobby, under all conditions, never tired! He grew to love his friends as family and was so proud of his children! He paid for his mistakes by taking care of others in need! His love for cars and old stories was my personal bond with Him!
