Harry E. Boulden, Sr., of Gloucester City passed away on January 26, 2013 after fighting the good fight. He was 83.

Harry was born in Elkton, Maryland to George Boulden and Margaret Carr Boulden. He was one of 13 siblings and spent his early years in Maryland and Delaware, before moving to Gloucester City. He attended Gloucester High School where he played football, basketball and baseball, participated on the track team and also played in the band. He loved to dance, especially with his future wife, Bernice, and later would become an avid bowler and golfer. After high school Harry played for the Mustangs, a semi-pro football team and became a lifelong member of the Memorial A.A. Club.

Harry served his country in the U. S. Air Force from 1950-1954 and would later go to work for Hess Oil. There he worked as a gauger and ultimately as a terminal supervisor and retired after 27 years. He then took a job with the Housing Authority in Gloucester City and was active in politics, supporting the Independent Party.

Harry had a fondness for blue claw crabs, which he shared with most of the Boulden family, and never missed a crab party.

Much of his later life was devoted to watching his children and grandchildren participate in athletics at Gloucester High and their respective colleges, where he became a mainstay at the games. He also loved to travel with the grandchildren's teams as they competed all over the east coast in the summer.

Harry was predeceased by his sisters Helen, Ruth, Dorothy, Pauline, Millie and Phoebe and his brothers Walter, Herbert, Albert and Billy. He is survived by his sister Beverly and nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. Harry was married to his beloved wife Bernice (nee Kahlan) for 61 years. He was a loving father of 4 children, the late Harry E. Jr., (Ellen), Kevin (Ruth), Gregg, and Denise Boulden Dunn. He was a devoted grandfather to Jennifer, Kevin Jr. (Ellen), Maddy Meehan (Joey), Ashley Myers (Shane), Dalton Dunn, Brett, Amanda and Andrew and great grandfather to Brett, Axel and Kevin III. Harry will be remembered by his family as a man who had a zest for life, who loved to tell a story (and maybe a fib now and again), and was totally devoted to his family.
