Gertrude Julia Carbone (nee Jarozynski) peacefully passed away on February 11, 2014 at the age of 84, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.


She was born on September 27, 1929, the youngest child of Letitia and Thomas Jarozynski. She grew up on Liberty Street in Camden and attended St. Joseph's Grammar School. She graduated from Camden Catholic High School, Class of 1947. She then went on to work for New Jersey Bell Telephone. She met the love of her life, Dominick Carbone, and they were married on June 9, 1951.

They lived in Whitman Park and were the proud parents of 3 children. In 1976, Gert and Dom moved to Bellmawr. Gertrude's life work was her dedication to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She especially loved being with her grandchildren, and she lit up whenever they were around. They will all miss her dearly!


Gertrude was predeceased by her parents and her siblings - Marie Szczepankiewicz, Dorothy Paradise, Florence White, Thomas Jarozynski, and Genevieve Snyder. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dominick, her devoted children Mary Lou & James Barnett, Mary & Thomas Carbone, and Susan and Michael Tompkins, and her loving grandchildren Danielle & Erica Tompkins, Jimmy Barnett, and Evan Carbone. She is also survived by many other relatives, nieces and nephews, and friends.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing Saturday morning from 8:15am to 10:15am at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Funeral Mass Saturday morning 11am St. Rita of Cascia Parish, Mary Mother of the Church, Bellmawr. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chews Landing.
