George B. Chain, on June 29, 2014, of Mt. Ephraim, formerly of Camden. Age 82.


Beloved husband of the late Carol Chain (nee Tipton). Devoted father of Kathleen Filippone (Joseph), Scott Chain, Sr. (Ann), Gale Mahoney (Jerry) and the late George B. Chain, Jr. and Mark C. Chain, Sr. Loving pop pop of 13. Great grandfather of 12. Predeceased by 5 siblings. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.


Mr. Chain was a member of the YMCA in Camden for over 50 years. He was inducted into the YMCA Hall of Fame in 1999. Mr. Chain was a line judge for volleyball in the 1984 Summer Olympics in California. He received a Gold Whistle award in 1976.


Mr. Chain retired from the USA Volleyball National Referees Association in 1985 and received the Emeritus Status in 1985. He retired from PSE&G in 1998 after 47 years of service.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing Tuesday evening from 7 to 9pm and Wednesday morning from 9 to 10am at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.


Funeral Service 10am Wednesday at the funeral home.


Interment Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.
