Ronald J. Volpe, suddenly, on February 24, 2014, of Mays Landing. Age 67.
Beloved husband of Elaine Smith Volpe (nee Priest). Step-father of John Smith. Loving grandfather of Amanda and Jayden and great grandfather of Michael. Dear brother of Michael, Carmen "Chop" (Denise), Cathy Volpe, Linda Berwick, Steve (Kimberly) and the late Donna. Son-in-law of Louise Logan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ron was known for playing drums with his brothers Mike, Chop and Steve in the Camden County area. In the early days he and his three brothers traveled the country as the famous "Abbey Rhode" Band. Ron's passion for music was evident in every show. He was most proud of a song he wrote with his brother Mike called "Are There Birthdays in Heaven" for his sister Donna who passed away five years before.
Ron was retired from driving a school bus with Integrity and Safety Bus of Absecon.
Ron was also a great comic, better than any comic we ever came across and everybody who knew him could attest to that.
Ron loved his family and was always excited to have company and clown around with them. He always looked forward to seeing his two granddaughters and great grandson. Ron was a donor to the Gift of Life Program. He is in our hearts, will never be forgotten and will be missed forever by everyone.
There will be a viewing from 6 to 8pm Friday eve at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.
Funeral Service 8pm at the funeral home. Interment private.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made in Ron's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
Family and friends may share memories at www.GardnerFuneralHome.com.
