COOK, HOWELL EDGAR, D.D.S., M.D.

Devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, loyal friend, selfless and caring medical doctor, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2011 at his home, surrounded by loved ones.

Dr. Cook graduated from Temple University where he earned his undergraduate degree. He continued his education at Temple School of Dentistry, along with the Graduate School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, with a specialty in Maxillofacial Surgery. He then received his M.D. from Jefferson Medical College in 1959. Following his achievement, he served an Internship at the Atlantic City Medical Center. Dr. Cook practiced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Southern New Jersey, where he was, at one time, Chief of the Department of Oral and Maxillo-facial Surgery at both, Atlantic City Medical Center and Shore Memorial Hospital. Dr. Cook was an avid traveler, always in search of the perfect uninhabited beach; preferably discovered on one of his many Caribbean sailing ventures. His spirit of adventure led him and his family to remote and exotic places; often landing on dirt air strips, in single-engine airplanes. His unquenchable thirst and enthusiasm for life was always evident at "Cook's Cove," his dream home, specifically designed for him, and enhanced by his meticulous landscaping abilities. Dr. Cook lived a very happy, enriched life, punctuated by deep love for his family, above and beyond all other aspirations. Love and gratitude will be carried on, faithfully, in his honor.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Marjorie (Naame) Cook, daughter, Kimberly Styer (Harry Michael), son, Howell E., III "Howie" (Wendi), and five adoring grandchildren; Lee Marjorie, Noel Elaine, and Ryann Michelle Styer; Brett Howell and Brock Heywood Cook.

As per his wishes, funeral arrangements will be private.

His friends and family will miss and love him forever!

One Little Rose I would rather have one little rose From the garden of a friend Then to have the choicest flowers When my stay on earth must end. I would rather have one pleasant word In kindness said to me Than flattery when my heart is still And life has ceased to be. I would rather have a loving smile From friends I know are true Than tears shed round my casket When this world I've bid adieu. Bring me all your flowers today Whether pink, or white, or red; I'd rather have one blossom now Than a truckload when I'm dead. -Author Unknown
