Roland R.Hess, age 93, on October 18, 2013, of Blackwood, NJ, passed peacefully at his daughter's home with his family by his side.


Born April 25, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA. Beloved husband of Irene (nee Nadeau) and the late Roseanne (nee Gass). Devoted father of Roseanne Onofrio (Mark), Roberta Janel (Michael) and James Hess (Linda). Loving grandfather of Jenny, James, Lindsay and the late George and great grandfather of four.


Roland proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for the Reading Railroad, Wayne Junction on Germantown Ave, Philadelphia. Roland was a member of VFW Post 1958, Haddon Heights, Stetser Lamartine American Legion Post 281, Gloucester Township and the Mason's Lodge of Philadelphia.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing from 6 to 7pm Monday evening at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.


Funeral Service 7pm Monday evening.


Interment private.


In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Roland's name to VFW Post 1958, 615 E. Atlantic Ave., Haddon Heights, NJ 08035.
