John W. Shorter on November 24, 2013, of Deptford, formerly of Somerdale. Age 82.


Beloved husband of Claire D. (Nee La Brecque) for 61 years. Devoted father of Kathy Shorter, Linda Shorter, Judy McErlain (Michael) and Ken Shorter (Jill). Loving brother of Mary Lou Jurczyk. Dear grandfather of 10 and great grandfather of 9. Caring uncle to a niece and 2 nephews.


Mr. Shorter was a Korean War Veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force. He was the former Mayor of Gloucester Twp from 1976 to 1980. Mr. Shorter retired from Proctor & Gamble after 35 years of service he also enjoyed serving as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Grace in Somerdale for many years.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing Saturday morning from 9:45 to 10:45am in the Infant Jesus Parish, St. John Vianney Church, 2901 Good Intent Road, Blackwood Terrace, Deptford, NJ 08096. Funeral Mass Saturday 11am in the church. Interment St. Joseph's Church, Blackwood.
