Edsel L. Price, on December 26, 2012, of Somerdale. Age 91.


Beloved husband of the late Carol (nee Fischer). Devoted father of Paula Mullin (Michael), Larry Price (Rita) and the late Glen Price. Loving grandfather of Evan Mullin (Debra), Sarah Becktel (Mike), Kate Mullin (Ruben Tolentino), Douglas Price (Sara), Robert Price (Whitney) and Sharon Price (Spencer Whitlock). He was great-grandfather of Laci Price, Riley and Rory Price. Uncle of Bob Steele (Shari), Dennis Steele (Nancy) and Bob Fischer (Lisa). Brother-in-law of Bob Fischer (Jean).


Mr. Price was born in Rockbridge, MO then grew up in Wilmington, IL. He graduated from Wilmington High School in 1940 and went to Joliet Junior College for welding.


He enlisted in the service and served in the U.S. Air Corps during WWII as a pilot of a B-26. He flew 65 missions out of England over France and Belgium.


After leaving the service in 1945 he worked at Wilmington Coal and Mining Co. where draglines were used at the strip mine. He married Carol Fischer in 1953 in Gardiner, IL where Paula and Larry were born. Mr. Price traveled with Page Engineering as a supervisor of dragline assembly for strip mining of coal at sites in TN, WV, MD and PA. He then moved to OH as a dragline operator for Keller Mines followed by the birth of Glen in Alliance, OH.


In 1965 he moved to NJ to work for American Dredging Co. as a Superintendent of Dredging Operations and worked for them until he was 70 years old. Carol passed away in 1997 and at 76 years old, he was called back to work to supervise the construction of a bay expansion project in HI for 18 months. At the completion of that job he fulfilled a lifelong dream and traveled through Australia for a month before returning home to NJ, where he lived a very full life until the end.


He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge in Braidwood, IL.


There will be a viewing from 7 to 9pm Sunday eve and 10 to 11am Monday morning at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.


Funeral Service 11am Monday at the funeral home.


Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hurffville.
