Mary E. Hess (Fitzmaurice)

nee Donohue), died peacefully at her son's home in Gloucester Township, on May 20, 2010, at 102 years of age.


Daughter of the late Martin Donohue and Elizabeth (nee Fitzpatrick). Predeceased by husbands Raymond H. Fitzmaurice of Boston and John (Jack) Hess of Camden, son Paul M. Fitzmaurice, daughter Jean E. Bittman (nee Hess), and grandson Paul Fitzmaurice. Survived by son Raymond H. Fitzmaurice (the late Shirley), grandchildren Sharon Fitzmaurice-Whitehurst (Edward), Martin Fitzmaurice, Linda Fitzmaurice-Stranahan (Robert), Charles Buckalew, Raymond Buckalew (Terri), Charlene Fitzmaurice-Callahan (Michael), Charles Fitzmaurice (Janet), Aimee Fitzmaurice, and Robert Fitzmaurice, great-grandchildren Shawn Whitehurst (Jillien), Amanda Whitehurst-Torres (Wilson), Robin Stranahan-Prete (Michael), Ashley Stranahan, Blade Stranahan, Kelley Fitzmaurice, Sean Fitzmaurice, and great-great-grandchildren Giana, Wilson, Jr., Logan, and Ayden.


Mrs. Hess graduated 8th grade a member of Sacred Heart Camden's 1st graduating class. She worked at Strawbridge and Clothier, Philadelphia; New York Ship, Camden; various retail companies in NJ; and Stockton Station Apartments Camden. Mrs. Hess resided at Franklin Square Apts., Glendora, prior to moving to Glen Oaks.


There will be a viewing from 7 to 9pm Sunday eve and 8:15 to 9:15am Monday morning at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Funeral Mass 10am Monday at Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Agnes RC Church, Blackwood. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill. Family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made in Mrs. Hess's memory to St. Agnes RC Church, 701 Little Gloucester Rd., Blackwood, NJ 08012.
