Gwyneth Barbara Branigan, born April 10, 1931 in the town of Chesham, Buckinghamshire, England and passed from this life on February 5, 2012. Age 80.


After graduating from school, Gwyneth "Barbara" worked for several years in England as a nanny. Then graduated from University College Hospital of Nursing, Set 130, in 1959. She worked for 4 years as a staff nurse at UCH, became a Certified Midwife. She came to the United States with another nurse and friend and worked as a psychiatric nurse in Ancora State Hospital, then began to travel and work across the United States. She thought it would take 2 years, but "due to the size of the US" it actually took 4 years. She traveled and worked in, among others: Cheyenne, Wyoming; Dartmouth, New Hampshire; Winterhaven, Florida and California. She eventually settled on the East Coast in New Jersey due to the accessibility of travel back to England to visit her family. She worked in this area as an obstetrical nurse at Kessler Memorial Hospital, Metropolitan Hospital and retired from Underwood Memorial Hospital in 1993. She continued to work part-time as a nanny caring for young children, which she loved, until last spring. Barbara loved vacationing and went on several cruises, especially enjoying Bermuda.


Barbara leaves behind 2 brothers - Keith and Alan Branigan and a sister Sian Baverstock and many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.


Barbara's favorite charities involved children and animals. Donations to either may be made in her name in lieu of flowers.


There will be visitation Friday from 2 to 3pm at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.


Memorial Service 3pm at the funeral home.


Interment is private at the request of the family.
