Robert E. Landry, Sr., of W. Collingswood Hts., born on September 10, 1924 and passed away on August 14, 2012 at the age of 87.


Survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Jean (nee Thompson). Devoted father of Michael Landry of Hampton, VA, Robert Landry, Jr. and his wife Donna of Mt. Ephraim, NJ and Dr. Cheryl Landry of Medford, NJ. Loving grandfather of Lisa Green and her husband Mark of Atco, NJ, Corinne Knight of Philadelphia and Benjamin Knight of Hempstead, NY. Great grandfather of Peyton. Also survived by 2 sisters, 3 brothers and pre-deceased by Lorraine Veves and Howard Landry.


Robert was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Robert was born in Brewer, ME and finished school there. He then joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served in WWII in the Pacific in the First Battle at Okinawa and in the last battles he earned the Purple Heart in the Pacific Campaign. After being discharged, Robert lived in Hampton, VA. He worked for NACA, now known as NASA. He moved to Philadelphia in 1953 and was employed at All Aluminum as shop foreman. He attended night school at the University of Penn and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Design and Engineering. Robert went on to have a long and prosperous career in manufacturing for several companies.


Robert was the Lt. Governor of the Kiwanis of South Jersey for 3 years. He also started several new clubs. Robert was a life member of VFW Post #3620 Gloucester City, a member of American Legion Post #84, Oaklyn and a member of the Marine Corps League.


There will be a viewing from 9:30 to 11:30am Friday morning at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.


Funeral Service 11:30am at the funeral home.


Interment Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
