John J. Hogan, Sr., "Jack", age 80, formerly of Runnemede, on May 15, 2014.


He was born to the late Edward and Marie (nee Sweeney) on July 22, 1933, in Philadelphia, PA. He married the late Patricia (nee Eicholtz) in 1955 and they raised nine children in Runnemede, NJ. John was active in the Catholic Church throughout his life. John served in the US Navy during the Korean War. After his military service, he was a junior engineer at New York Ship Yard in Camden and was a member of IBEW 439/351 until his retirement in 1995. With his wife Patricia, John opened his home as a gathering place on holidays, birthdays and special occasions. Friends and family fondly remember the wonderful parties and celebrations they hosted until Patricia's death in April of 2000. In later years, John met and was devoted to his companion of eight years, Regina Sobolewski of Blackwood. Regina inspired John's love of travel and their trips together included Poland, Alaska and the Panama Canal.


Devoted father of John (Lee Ann), Diana (Nancy), Carolyn (Connie), Barbara Beebe, Robert (Mary), Marjorie Derr (Marty), Patricia Tiver (Timothy), Michael (Judy), Teresa Cafaro (Robert). Loving Pop-Pop of fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.


There will be a viewing from 6 to 8pm Sunday evening at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE and from 10 to 10:45am Monday morning at the Chapel at Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Agnes RC Church, Coles & Little Gloucester Rds., Blackwood.


Funeral Mass 11am Monday at the Church.


Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chews Landing.


In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in John's memory to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
