Lucie C. Barbalace, of Glendora, NJ. Age 89. Passed away January 2, 2024. Formerly of Camden, New Jersey, where she was born, graduated St Joesph's high school and lived for 39 years before moving to Glendora, New Jersey. Beloved Mother of John Fiedler, Ben Fiedler (Mary Ann), and Angel Colella (Paul Sr.) and the late Salvator Brenhuber. Loving grandmother of seven (7) and great grandmother of three (3).
Babci, as she was affectionally called, spent most of her career working for the Macy's Department store for 25 years, once retired she would arrange luncheons for her Macy friends. Lucie was a voracious reader amassing a private library of books on a diversity of subjects to include politics, military strategy, famous people and current events, many of which she could read in a single day. Her reading was complimented by her DVD and VHS format collection of movies. Lucie was an independent woman who adapted to the changing technology by communicating with loved ones through email or the old fashion way of dropping a letter in the mail with a return postcard for you to stay connected. Babci was a devout Catholic and could be seen walking to St Teresa of the Infant Jesus Roman Catholic church for services. Lucie lived at the Franklin Square senior living apartments, where she helped aging neighbors, attended to her garden and walked the grounds. Babci (Lucie) will be missed by all those who knew her.
There will be a visitation from 12-1pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the GARDNER FUNERAL HOME - RUNNEMEDE, New Jersey. Memorial Service to follow at 1pm. Interment private at the request of the family.

I had the opportunity to meet Lucie and her daughter in the emergency room. We chatted for a little while, or I should say that she told stories and I listened! She was proud of her Camden roots and very proud of her family. She mentioned that she recently had a great grandson who lived nearby. She was a woman of faith, had no regrets, and never looked back. I only know this because she told me! She was charming, energetic, and sassy. My condolences to her family as she surely is a memorable woman. And by the way, I told her my name 3 times, but she still called me Jay!
