Lottie E. Kranz (née Meyer), of Runnemede, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024, at the age of 101.

Lottie was born on February 16, 1923, in Oberlungwitz, Germany. When Lottie was barely 6 months old, the family set sail for America. They arrived in Ellis Island, New York on August 22, 1923, and soon settled in East Windsor, Connecticut. Lottie's father Arno was very proud to become an American citizen and, as a result, Lottie became a Naturalized American Citizen.

Lottie met the love of her life, Herb, through her sister-in-law, Ann Meyer. They were happily married for 47 years.

She was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Runnemede. She was also a member of Friendly Circle and the Runnemede Seniors Club. Always an avid reader, Lottie was well known at the Runnemede Public Library for her frequent visits to borrow books. A big fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, she watched them whenever games were on TV and loved going to see them play, especially if it was Dollar Dog Night.

Lottie lived on Center Avenue in Runnemede, NJ for more than 60 years.

In her mid 90s Lottie moved to The Residence in Cherry Hill. She made new friends there and was well known for her sweet and kind personality. At the age of 97 she began writing poetry and became famous in the family for always having a new poem to share. She even recited one of her poems from memory at her 100th birthday party. Knowing what an avid reader Lottie had always been, in lieu of gifts for her milestone birthday, many family and friends donated to the Runnemede Public Library in her honor. The library created "Lottie's Library," a new section of children's books, and displayed one of her poems, "Color Blind."She was thrilled to visit the library and was so happy to realize her love of reading could now impact young children to become life-long readers, as she was.

Daughter of the late Arno and Minna Meyer, Beloved wife of the late Herbert Kranz, Dear sister of the late Arno Meyer (Ann), Marianne Wollett (Carl), and Ruth Loewe (Karl). She is survived by her two children Donna (George) Dern and Herb Kranz; her two grandchildren, Kari Dern (Dr. Steve Cassady) and Scott Dern (Lacey Colby); and her great-grandson Shane Dern (to whom she was a proud Oma). Also survived by nephew Chris Wolf and nieces Jeanette Wollett, Arlene (Tom) Hassler, Andrea Meyer, and Rosemarie (Tom) Burke.

There will be a visitation from 10:45am until 11:45am on Wednesday, March 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Runnemede. Memorial service 12-noon at the church. Interment at BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, North Hanover Township, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lottie's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church: 200 East Clements Bridge Road, Runnemede, NJ 08078; 856-939-4444; Trinity Lutheran Church, Runnemede or to the Runnemede Public Library: P.O.
