Jim...we were classmates through Hatch and CHS. I will never forget your Esterbrook fountain pen and pencil pair that you wore in a belt holster. And the fountain pen used purple ink. I was in your home on Jackson Street often. You were a really bright guy. I regret not building on our friendship. Hopefully, I will see you over the bridge.

Jimmy was our close family neighbor on Empire Ave for almost 50 years. My sister and myself both knew Jimmy and children who was always very kind to us. He has always been very close with our parents who considered Jimmy a very close friend. John Johnstone Jr

Jim was a life-long friend to my husband, Bill Hubert. Jim called Bill, "Willie" and Bill called Jim, "Jeb". So many good memories of them. Jim was Best Man at our wedding in 1974. Christmas Nights on Empire Ave with his Mom. Birthday calls back and forth. Love, you guys. Mary Hubert

Jim has been my friend (and neighbor) since I was a little kid. As I got older, Jim helped me with school and general growing up advice. I remember him flying remote airplanes when I was a younger person. As I got to college for Accounting (Rutgers-Camden) and Masters (his Alma Mater), and was in the working world, we used to chat about all things technical! Jim has a framed portion of a parachute from a rocket landing he proudly displayed and he looked forward to his monthly lunches with his former colleagues for decades. He spoke of the camaraderie and teamwork and remarked about the way things have changed in the workforce about teamwork. I’ve used his examples many times in my own work (and always included the framed portion of the parachute and monthly retirement lunches for decades). The examples of teamwork and camaraderie caught on with my last team and I can say his Legacy with his colleagues lives on. I even gave him a math problem I had (federal government) to bring for the engineers at their lunch that month and they called it, “non-linear”. From being in government so long, I went with a “non-linear” and very non-technical solution and we chuckled about how nonsense could be a solution! He said I didn’t give him all the details, either (which could only be assumed by a government finance person)!
Jim is a great person who has restored my faith in God.
I am sad he is no longer with us and grateful he is with his family and Smogger (his pet cat he saved and took in.). I am sure he is having a “Perfect Martini” with a delicious meal-probably Heaven’s version of The Crab Trap, clearly reading books, clearly watching the Phillies, looking forward to Eagles games and getting around with ease! He probably has a boat, too, which he enjoyed.
He has been a great friend to my parents and I and I am grateful for the time we had with him, wish it was more and glad he is in peace. If anyone is looking for a song to think of, check out, “Well Done” by the group, “The Afters”.
May you Rest In Peace, Jim. My condolences to his family.
