Michael A. Nardi, age 86, of Stratford, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home on January 12, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

Michael was born in South Philadelphia August 24, 1935 to Alfred and Marie Nardi (nee Sinatra) and lived there until settling with his wife and family in New Jersey.

A natural-born athlete, Michael was recruited to play football for Southeast Catholic - Bishop Neumann -Saint John Neumann High School, where he lettered in both football and baseball. He would later be inducted into the Pirate Club Varsity Hall of Fame in recognition of his contributions to the athletic program. Michael went on to graduate from Temple University where, as a member of the Alpha Phi Delta fraternity, he established friendships maintained to this day.

Michael was an avid sports fan who embraced his local sports teams. An Eagles season ticket holder since 1962, he was in attendance for every home opener with the exception of this year.

Later in life Michael continued to display his athletic skill by playing in fast-pitch softball leagues with men half his age and winning numerous handball championships alongside his YMCA teammates.

After retiring from the business world, Michael filled his days with baby-sitting, homework, sitting in the McDonald's drive-thru and enjoying his grandchildren's extra-curricular activities.

Everyone who knew Michael knew he was an extremely kind, loving, supportive and peaceful soul, that loved his family and friends very much. His devotion to them was unwavering. Everyone who knew Michael also knew that he loved to make people laugh - with his perfectly played, quick-witted and snarky remarks. If he didn't tease you, he probably didn't like you. His infectious, good-hearted nature will live on forever - laughter is his legacy.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years Mercedes (nee Del Campo). He is survived by his "three girls" Lisa Nardi, Susan Nardi and Dyan Ellershaw (Robert) and three adoring grandchildren Alyssa Rieger, Zachary Rieger and Logan Ellershaw. He was brother to Dominic Nardi and the late Albert Nardi. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation for Michael will be held from 9:30am to 11am on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, St. Luke RC Church, 55 Warwick Road, Stratford, NJ. An 11am Funeral Mass will follow at the Church. Entombment at Locustwood Memorial Park, 1500 Marlton Pike West, Cherry Hill, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 250, Philadelphia, PA 19106 or by visiting www.alz.org.

CandleMy Dearest Friend,
How long has it been?
Six decades since we first met when.
Although our earthly friendship now ends,
It will transcend.
So til Heaven then,
when we meet again,
my dearest friend.
