Douglas J. Filson, on April 10, 2021, of Audubon. Age 69.
Beloved husband of Johanna (nee Varallo) for 46 years. Devoted father of Serena Filson and Michael Filson (Fiancé Kristen). Loving pop-pop of Gina. Dear brother of Katherine Ann Filson. Dearest Brother-in-law of Judith Varallo-Morris. Uncle of Anthony Morris.
Douglas was part of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 880. He was a proud season ticket holder for the Philadelphia Eagles, section 726. The one thing he enjoyed most was his friends at Dunkin Donuts.
There will be a viewing from 9:45am to 10:45am Wednesday at St. Joseph's the Worker Parish, St. Aloysius Church, 37 W. Haddon Avenue, Oaklyn, NJ 08107. Funeral Mass at 11AM. Interment is private at the request of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (Pancan), 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.

Our family got to know Doug when he ventured to PA to spend time with his granddaughter, Gina. We’d chat on the porch as the kids were playing, and we could tell right away that Gina was the apple of his eye. We’ll always remember the two of them headed out on Tuesday nights for their Uno dinner dates. Doug was proud of his family, and he spoke with excitement about their trip to California. The last time we saw him was last summer when Doug and Johanna drove up during the quarantine. They looked like a pair of ghosts, wearing sheets with eye cut-outs just so they could give their Gina a hug! We will miss our porch conversations with Doug. Our condolences to Johanna, Serena, Gina, Mike, and Kristin. Rest In Peace, friend!
I have known Johanna since grammar school. I never met Mr. Filson but I am sure he was an admirable husband, father, brother, and son. My sincerest condolences to the Filson and Varallo families.
