Dear Michael and Michelle,

My deepest sympathy, love, and prayers on the home going of your dear Mother! She was truly a beautiful person inside and out. I always saw her with a warm and friendly smile and with a kind word to everyone. She was a very loving wife and mother, a gracious hostess, a faithful and devout catholic, perfect housekeeper and wonderful cook.

I have such fond memories of Mrs. Metzgar from my childhood. Growing up here in town and a best friend of Michelle I spent a lot of time in the Metzgar household. Most of the summer was spent in their backyard swimming in their pool. Mrs Metzgar was such a warm and loving mother I felt like I had a second Mom. She was like Mrs. Cleaver in “Leave it to Beaver”, never an unkind word, kept a beautiful home and always had a wonderful cooked meal on the table every day. As life changes and we grow older our paths move on from friendships that we had as children but true friendships last a life time and every time I ran into Mrs Metzgar it was like no time had passed at all and she was still that beautiful, warm and loving Mother from my childhood.

A few years ago I ran into Mrs. Metzgar in the Acme and it was so nice to see her and renew that friendship. As we talked I told her of a fond memory I had from time spent in her home. I always felt so welcomed and loved in her home that I use to wish Michelle would say “Let me ask my Mom if you can stay for dinner”, Oh my, I would be jumping up and down inside hoping she would say yes because I always felt like it was a special Sunday dinner at the Metzgar home every day of the week. She was such a wonderful cook and I told her my favorite was her parsley new potatoes. She laughed and said “Oh my, I never knew”. She thought it was such a normal little thing but to me it was very special. But it wasn’t just the parsley new potatoes it was the love and caring from her true character and heart that was shinning through in everything that she did. I am so grateful that I had a friend who’s mother was such a loving example as Mary Metzgar.

My Mom also sends her deepest sympathies to you both. Your mother was one of the earliest friendships she made when my Dad took over the church here in town. Mrs. Metzgar would always ask after my Mom and through the years she would stop by or send a card always thinking of my Mom. Her kindness will never be forgotten!

May the Lord be with you both and give you comfort during your time of lose. May you seek Him and have peace in knowing that you had such a shinning example of God’s love in your Mother!

Love,
Carol & Paulette Schieber
