Mr. Lyons lived in 209 and I lived in 219 Ganttown Road. I grew up in that house and then lived there with my own family. I have known Mr. Lyons for over 30 years and he was my friend that I'd talk to on my way home from the bus stop. Over the years, those conversations occurred after walking the dog or walks with the family. We'd just stand in his front yard and chat, him with his hands behind his back. I'll always remember his sense of humor and deep wisdom on so many things- gardening, moles, coal mining, raising kids, using coupons in the supermarket... I don't know how many times I'd run into him in the ShopRite and he'd tell me what products were good to try and we'd block the aisle chatting away... He loved his family so much and would always especially tell me about his grandkids, the Doctor and the PA. He was such a proud American and I am so grateful for his service and sacrifice. I know that his wife was the love of his life and he was thankful for the life and family they raised together. Mr. Lyons loved my kids, Annabel and Trevor, and my dog, Gloria, and was also good pals with my husband, Michel. We moved a few months ago, but I still kept in touch with Mr. Lyons on the phone. He never complained, he was always grateful, and he always told the truth. Michel and I just said that they don't make 'em like him anymore. Mr. Lyons was truly a gem and my heart aches that I won't chat with him again this side of Heaven. Thank you Mr. Lyons for always watching over the kids on your block. I hope you know how much you are missed and loved. I love you, Peachy

Uncle Pud was a good guy to be around with. His sense of humor was great. Even though I only made it to 3rd Class In the Navy, he called me Admiral. Guess he was trying to make me feel like a big shot. Don’t think I ever asked him why we called him Uncle Pud and pretty sure I never heard of anyone else called Pud. Guess we’ll never know.
Rest In Peace Uncle Pud and very nice knowing you. .....................The Admiral.

Some of my fondest memories of childhood were the times we spent with Uncle Pud (“Pop”), Aunt Dot, and our cousins. He always made us feel welcome. He had nicknames for me and my brother- I was “Twig” and my younger brother was “the Admiral.” :) Even after we were grown, with our own families, to Pop we were Twig and Admiral. Thanks for the wonderful times, Pop.
Rest in love.

My Pop Pop was my father in law for over 34 years. He was devoted to my children and would do anything to help our family. He was a wonderful person to all those who knew him, and was willing to help us at any time. May he RIP, amd hopefully i will meet him in the next life for a cold one. Love you Pop, Jim D
