My husband Sean just came home after running into a mutual friend who told him that Ed had passed away. My husband Sean cried as he shared the news with me. We both loved Ed. I believe Sean met him through friends and they played flag football against each other. I knew him from the Cincinnati Sports Club pool. He was always one that we hoped to run into. In fact, we saw him at the very end of summer at the pool, maybe in September. I left Sean at the pool to spend some extra time with Ed while I took our kids home. I am glad they had that extra time to hang out. Never guessed it would be the last. We will miss him!

While I did not know Eddie as an adult, my wife and I recall he and his brother in the mid to late 1970s while they were young and came to our softball team's games with their father, who was our classmate at Collingswood High School. As a Drexel Sigma Pi alumni, I was following their notices as the tragedy unfolded. Sincere regards to the family, his many friends and professional colleagues.

Beautiful video tribute, along with mass and eulogy yesterday celebrating Eddie’s life. So good to see the Burke family along with Bishop Eustace and Drexel graduates.
He was one of my brother’s best friends; Andy, Eddie and Vito, always had each other’s back!
He will be missed but never forgotten - so many memories to cherish!

So we were playing in a baseball tournament in Ft. Myers, Florida back in 2002-ish timeframe, and Ed and I found this bar after one of our games with this cheesy "lounge" singer. He was the biggest cheese ever and he made us laugh with his renditions of classic oldies. The bar had $1 beers and $0.50 wings. Dangerous! We stayed there for 4-5 hours. We were a mess. The guys on the team found us and then we went out to the bars until 2am. It was epic. The next day, we played at 10am and we were so hungover. The team was so mad at us for getting hammered the night before a big game. Ed and I both went 2-4 and we won the game. Everybody on the team could not believe Ed and I could go out like college idiots and get drunk and then perform on the field. That is how we rolled! HA! We did that the whole time we were there. We also found THE BEST restaurant for chicken parm sandwiches. We went there every day to eat. He loved good food!

God I miss him. I loved him like a brother. I am so sorry for your family's loss. He was one of kind and is now hitting bombs and stretching singles into doubles up in heaven.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Ed. I met Ed through our kids school and coaching soccer. He was such a good man and really connected with him as we were both from the Philadelphia area. I hope his family and especially his children are able to find some form of comfort in this tough point.

As a professional colleague and friend of Ed's for many years, I will miss his wit, quick humor and most of all, good friendship.

One vivid memory was sitting in a Cincinatti bar on a slow weekday evening having a few drinks, when two young women walked in and sat down at the other end of the bar. When Ed was visiting the Men's room, I went over to the women and gave them some information about Ed graduating from Drexel. A little while later, one of the women approached Ed and asked him if he had remembered her from one of her Physics classes at Drexel. Right away, Ed new something was up. Needless to say, Ed ended up marrying her!

So long buddy, you will be missed....

I work with Eddie at Aon. We shared many a raucous conversation over good craft beer. Ed was a good guy and am sorry he fell finally to this tough disease he was battling. Eddie could always make me laugh.

I played with and against Ed in the adult league baseball, back in Cincinnati. He was a great guy, fun-loving, and a true competitor. I pray that Ed’s children and family are comforted by the great memories they shared with him in his lifetime.

Oh man, this really hurts the heart, Eddie and I were good friends all through grade school, we kind of lost touch in high school, but man do I have some great memories. God bless the family....keep that smile buddy

We are all numb by the news of Eddie's passing. He was always a kind person and so handsome. His smile is what I remember so well as well as his outstanding athletic ability. This is so hard to understand how it can happen to such a good person and such a great family. You are ALL in my prayers and you will all always hold a special place in my heart.

B Brenda Holbrook on Sep 15, 2020

I am sorry for your loss. I worked with Ed, he had a zest for his work and certainly knew how to brighten a room. If you needed a recommendation for a good (well great) restaurant in any city, he was you man.

D Dan Kunkel on Sep 15, 2020

I worked with Ed and was so impressed by his work ethic, kindness, integrity and positive attitude. He was an AWESOME guy! Not many Eddie Burke's roaming this good earth. If there was ever an argument to clone humans, Eddie would be at the top of the list. His spirit and energy will be missed. Rest easy my friend.

T Tim Heinze on Sep 15, 2020

I am so sorry for your loss - I worked with Ed for several years and he was such a great guy and pleasure to be around. Working with him was not work, because he made it fun. He always had a smile on his face and made sure everyone around him did as well. He was great at everything he did and truly cared about people, and while the world has lost him way too soon, his impact in a short time is more than most will have in their lifetime.

C Casey Christy on Sep 15, 2020

I am so sorry to hear of Eddie’s passing. I have great childhood memories when we converted the Burke’s backyard into a baseball field in Glendora, and then eventually moved our daily games out in front of their house on the street as we grew and learned to hit the ball farther. I remember Eddie as a great person, and an excellent athlete who came from a very nice family. Please accept my condolences and best wishes for his friends and family during this time.

#5 you will be missed.
I’m sorry for not reaching out as much as a friend should have. You were a good dude.

I would like to share my favorite memory of Eddie.
I played baseball with Eddie on three teams; Tim’s Team, Suds, & The Sting. Each team was a spin off of each other, but the one constant was Eddie and Me. Almost every game Eddie would show up about 7 minutes before game time. The last game ever played on Tim’s team Eddie decided he was going to imitate Pete Rose at bat. He wore a catchers helmet to bat (no ear flaps). His mannerisms at the plate mocked the Pete we all grew up watching. Eddie worked the count in his favor as usual. Everyone in both dugouts, in the field & all three fans were watching this amazing performance, almost transcending them to believing it to be Pete Rose.
The next pitch Eddie laces one to right center. Eddie does the whole wide swing out to first like Pete. The running adjustment of the helmet like Pete. Heading to second you can see the scene starting to come together. He hits second and heads for third. Now everyone in our dugout knows what completes this Emmy nominated performance is the slide. Sure enough he dives head first about three feet in the air toward third. Going completely parallel to the ground for about 2.5 seconds. Hitting the dirt. “Safe”yells the ump.
Eddie continues his role, adjusting his helmet while chomping his gum.
Thanks for being part of my life and helping every game I played with you count.
Much love #5
