L Linda Scholz on May 12, 2020

I started working for Dave around 1989 when I was still in court reporting school. I scoped for him until I became licensed myself.
I've written and deleted so many things, trying to find the right words. Sometimes there just aren't any "right words".
I took comfort after my mom and dad died in the stories people told me about them, so I figured I'd tell you some memories I have of Dave.

This is a story a young female attorney told me about Dave. It was the first deposition she was taking. There were several older male attorneys in the case. One attorney objected to EVERY question she asked ("What is your name?" "Objection. When? Now or at the time of the accident?") After several questions and objections, Dave stopped the deposition and informed the attorneys that all of her questions were legit and to stop busting her balls. No one objected the rest of the deposition. She appreciated that immensely and was grateful for his intervention.
I wasn't surprised to hear that, because Dave always looked out for other people, me included. One time I had a job in Camden at night. He told me if I couldn't find a security guard to walk me to my car when I was done, to call him and he'd come. What other boss would do
that!?!
When I was buying my house I was short on the down payment. I asked him if he could check to see how much money I was owed and if he'd consider advancing me some. He told me to tell him how much I need and he'd get it to me. He never even checked to see if he owed me that much. I would not have been able to buy my house if it wasn't for him.

I'll always remember his work ethic, his fairness to his reporters and of course his sense of humor.
I was really saddened to hear of his passing. He was a great boss, friend and man. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all his family and friends. The world lost a good one.

J James Nangle.. brother of Pat Westfield Jayginny@ on May 11, 2020

James Nangle ... I wanted to pass along the condolences from the large extended family of Pat Westfield who rented the 2nd floor of Dave & Sandra's West Wildwood home for over 30 years.
Unfortunately,Pat's husband Joe didn't get to spend much time there. But Joe and especially Pat loved staying there, hosting so many of her large, loving family. She always spoke of how kind and gracious Dave and Sandy were to her, I can as Pat's brother personally say that it was an absolute pleasure visiting at Dave's home. Very kind man.

M Mickey Dillich on May 9, 2020

Mickey (Aducat) Dillich. Court reporter. I worked for Dave as a very new court reporter back in 1974. He taught me so much. The office was our “safe haven” to let off steam and destress from our sometimes very stressful job before we went home to our families. He was patient and had a great sense of humor. My condolences go out to all of his family. Your memories of him will give you comfort.

I called my father in law, Dad. He was brilliant, he was wise and he was fun! The best grandfather my son could ever have..Pop- Pop taught him cherished things and helped to shape him into the young man he is today..We are deeply saddened, and our prayers are with the whole family at this time.
With Love
Andie .

There are not very many people that one meets that truly have an impact on their life but a Dave was one of those special people for me. He was humorous, gracious hardworking and tough all in one. I am honored to have known him and to have called him my friend. My sincere condolences to his family.

“What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.”
I searched for the right words to say and this really spoke to me. Dave was a part of so many lives. I don't think he realized just how many or how much. The world seems a little less bright now and my heart goes out to you all. He took a piece of each and everyone he knew with him and we will never forget him. I hope you find strength in each other and the good memories you made.
Hugs.
Leslie
