We would like to offer our condolences to John and the entire Lickfeld family. I have known Vern since John and I were teenagers. He always seemed to be relaxed and low key, even when he was called early on Sunday morning for a ride home from Malaga. A very forgiving and funny man. Rest in peace my friend.

I remember:When I was little, like 5 or 6, Dad use to bring home from work a treat every day for me. I didn’t know at the time, it was something from the vending machine at work. It was a bag of chips or a roll of fruit flavor Life Savers. I looked forward to it everyday. He never forgot. It was very special to me. It’s just one of those little things you never forget. - John

The last kiss.
I had a feeling. This would be the last time I ever saw dad. I’m glad I gave him a kiss.

Poppop,
Tomorrow is a very sad day for all of us. I wish that circumstances were different so I could be there to hold your hand one last time. You were like more like a father to me. You have been there for every major milestone in my life. You have taught me so many things in life and I’m forever grateful that I got to spend so much time with you. I will miss seeing your smile and the way your face lights up when I bring the kids to see you. I will miss sneaking you in snacks and listening to you sing once the sugar kicked in. You were a one of a kind and always such a gentleman. The world will not be the same without you. I promise to always keep your memory alive for my girls. We miss you and love you!
Love,
Jessica, Kaitlin and Alaina

Dad raised 5 kids with a blue collar labor job. He worked for the same company. And he gave us almost everything we asked for. How does a person do that? He was great!

Uncle Vernon was such a quiet sweet man. His family always came first and he just loved all of his kids, grandkids & greats as well. I always loved seeing him & Aunt Claire dance at our family functions. They were such a lovely couple.
Everyone in the family loved him.
He will be missed by all of us.
God Bless him & his immediate family and may he rest in peace.

Uncle Vernon was such a gentle soul. He loved his family and was always first in line to hold the babies. I remember as a child, he would just stop over for a visit usually with Dawn or Dale in tow. He loved to tell stories and he was always smiling. He will be greatly missed.
