Mary A. (nee Natale) Giacobbe, age 96, of Lake Ariel, PA, formerly of Mullica Hill, NJ.


Devoted wife of the late Stephen Giacobbe, died peacefully at home on January 30, 2011 while surrounded by her loving grandchildren.


Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Josephine Natale. She was of Catholic faith and a member of St. Mary's Church in Waymart, PA. She had five sisters.


Mary enjoyed her Italian heritage and singing and speaking in her native language. Mary's maiden name "Natale" meaning Christmas in Italian always gave her a story to tell as when she was a child, she was referred to as "Mary Christmas!".


Mary was the proud, loving grandmother to ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She loved to dance, took great pride in her cooking and enjoyed her Sunday family dinners. There wasn't a time that you didn't see a smile on her face, feel her tender touch or hear her kind words. And all it took was that single smile, touch or word for you to love her. Mary will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.


Surviving is her son Samuel Giacobbe of Janesville, IL; sisters Gloria Furia of Brigantine, NJ and Sarah Vicari of Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren Domenic Giacobbe and his wife Karen of Moscow, PA, Stephen Giacobbe of Vandling, PA, Diane Eiler and her husband and her husband Owen of Philadelphia, PA, Maria Giacobbe of Carbondale, PA, Raymond Giacobbe of Wilkes Barre, PA, Linda Walck and husband Scott of Hamlin, PA, Joann Maiocco and her husband Lance of Lake Ariel, PA, Samuel Giacobbe of Lake Wallenpaupak, PA, Nicholas and Stephen Giacobbe, both of Hammonton, NJ.


Preceeded in death by the most caring son a mother could ask for, Domenic Giacobbe of Lake Ariel, PA and wife Julia and sisters Connie, Antoinette and Anna.


The grandchildren would like to give a special thank you to Home Health Hospice Services who recently stepped in to assist in their grandmother's care with their immediate attention, compassion and professionalism. A very heartfelt thank you, especially to nurse Linda for her incredible encouragement, support and kindness during this difficult time.


There will be a viewing from 6 to 8pm Thursday eve and 11am to 12noon Friday morning at Gardner Funeral Home, Runnemede, NJ.


Funeral Mass 12:30pm Friday at Holy Child Parish, St. Teresa's RC Church, Runnemede, NJ.


Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
